These two magnificent full specs limited edition models will be available in the EMEA Region in just 108 units per model, recalling the brand's 108th anniversary, celebrated on 24 June. They celebrate the records set by the two cars on the famous German circuit. Alfa Romeo 4C
Alongside the limited edition Giulia and Stelvio were two Alfa Romeo 4C models, Coupé and a Spider, in the "Competizione" and "Italia" special series. The Coupé has a much sportier personality, with strong racing connotations, while the Spider, still capable of thrilling performances, has a more elegant, refined character. They are both powered by a feisty all-aluminium 240 HP 1750 Turbo petrol engine, with intercooler and continuous twin phase variators. The two series, both limited editions, are exclusively styled. For the Coupé, Vesuvio Matte Grey bodywork with carbon fibre external trims and leather and microfibre seats and red stitching, matching the sporty steering wheel. Both versions are completed by specific dark aluminium dashboard insert and numbered badge on the central tunnel.
Emotions at the wheel

Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team
The Alfa Romeo has made its Formula 1 comeback after more than thirty years off the circuits with the aid of a technical and strategic partnership with Sauber, a team with impressive experience actually based at Hinwill. The racing season is proving rewarding for supporters and enthusiasts, with drivers Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson both winning championship points. Not to mention the breaking news of the signing of championship winner Kimi Räikkönen for the next two seasons, proving that the team continues to aim high for next year's FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
Alfa Romeo has written magnificent chapters in the history of motorsports, through iconic models that have recorded wonderful racing triumphs and won a place in the collective imagination. The brand's past continues to fuel the purest "Passione Alfa Romeo" and so the event would not have been complete without splendid cars normally conserved at the
Museo Storico Alfa Romeo - La macchina del tempo in Arese
. Cars that recount the history of the last century, and embrace almost half its length, from 1930 to 1975, displayed by FCA Heritage, the Group department dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the historic legacy of FCA's Italian brands, caring for the models in the company's collection and those owned by customers.
Alfa Romeo 6C 1750GS (1930)
The oldest model is a splendid 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport, the icon of the Mille Miglia, which won the event in 1930 recording an average speed in excess of 100 km/h for the first time, driven by Nuvolari and Guidotti and powered by a twin cam, six-cylinder 1752 cc engine.
Alfa Romeo GP Tipo B P3 (1932)
The GP Tipo B "P3 also has strong associations with Nuvolari: considered one of the best racing-cars ever built, it was designed by Vittorio Jano specifically for Grand Prix competition. Lightweight and with a straight eight engine, it won its first race, the 1932 Italian Grand Prix, driven by the "Flying Mantuan" himself.
Alfa Romeo GP Tipo 159 Alfetta (1951)
During the years after the 2nd World War, after the thrilling success in 1950, when Giuseppe "Nino" Farina won the World title in the last race, in 1951 Alfa Rome decided to race the Alfetta again, upgrading it to create the car victorious in the World Champion with Fangio at the wheel, the Tipo 159.
Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint (1954)
In 1954, to live up to the advertising slogan that defined the 1900 as the "family car that wins races" and to obtain a more powerful engine, Alfa Romeo increased the piston bore by 2 mm to give a displacement of 1,975 cc (compared to the original 1,884 cc) and boost its performance. These new versions were identified by adding "Super" to the name, and competed in the Gran Turismo category throughout the 1950s.
Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Am (1970)
The 1750 GT Am, built in 1970, is another world-famous Alfa Romeo icon. Unlike the model sold in Europe, the 1750 GTV - from which the GT Am (standing for "America") was born - featured the Spica indirect mechanical injection system, which complied with American emissions standards and was also well suited to racing. With its aggressive looks and 220 HP engine, it achieved great success in the European GT Championship when the car's top driver, the "Flying Dutchman" Toine Hezemans, won the Drivers' Title in 1970. It is driven here by Ivan Capelli, who joined forces with Alfa Rome to win the 1984 Formula 3 European Championship in the Martini MK42 with Alfa Romeo engine.
Alfa Romeo 33 TT 12 (1975)
The 33 TT 12 made its debut on 5 May 1973 at the "Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km", when the World Championship for Makes was experiencing great popularity and attracting large investments from the top constructors. The number "33" had been introduced in 1967 and has by now become a legend. The letters "TT" stood for "Telaio Tubolare" (tubular chassis), derived from its predecessor the 33 TT3 with a V8 engine, while "12" was the number of cylinders of the unprecedented three-litre boxer engine capable of delivering in excess of 500 HP and a speed of 330 km/h. At "Passione Alfa Romeo" it was driven by Arturo Merzario, who won the World Championship for Makes in the TT12 in 1975.
Antonio Giovinazzi to race for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team
An Italian driver in Formula One with one of the Italian brands that has made car racing history
Alfa Romeo and the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team are delighted to announce that Antonio Giovinazzi will race alongside 2007 Formula One World Champion Kimi Räikkönen, completing the team's driver line-up for the 2019 season.
Following its tradition of discovering and nurturing young talents, the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team has appointed the Italian driver, who has worked with the team for the past two years, to race in place of Charles Leclerc.
The decision to elect Antonio Giovinazzi is particularly significant in the scope of the project that this season saw the return of Alfa Romeo to the pinnacle of motorsports after a hiatus of more than 30 years. The coming together of Alfa Romeo and the Italian driver was natural, also considering the strong bond that has tied Giovinazzi to the brand from an early age, and is a source of national pride considering that several years have passed since an Italian driver has competed in Formula One.
Antonio Giovinazzi made his Formula One debut with Sauber at the 2017 Australian Grand Prix, and has since then competed with the Swiss team on one more occasion (2017 Chinese Grand Prix). Furthermore, he has completed several tests and FP1 session for the team. He has proven his talent, and shares the goal of achieving ambitious results together with the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.
"I am delighted to be joining the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team. This is a dream come true, and it is a great pleasure to have the chance to race for this team. As an Italian, it is a huge honour for me to represent a brand as iconic and successful as Alfa Romeo in our sport. I would like to thank the Scuderia Ferrari and the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team for giving me this great opportunity. I am very motivated and cannot wait to start working towards achieving great results together."
Frédéric Vasseur, CEO of Sauber Motorsport and Team Principal of the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team:
"We're very pleased to reveal the complete driver line-up for the 2019 season. We first signed Kimi Räikkönen, an extremely experienced driver who will contribute to the development of our car and will accelerate the progress of our team as a whole.
Together with Alfa Romeo, we are delighted to welcome Antonio Giovinazzi, who will take the place of Charles Leclerc. We have already had the opportunity to work with him in the past and he has proven to have great potential. We are very determined and motivated. Our target is to continue progressing and fighting together for positions that count."
Abarth 124 rally wins the R-GT Category on the Dirt in Rally Poland and the Rally dell’Adriatico
The Italian-Romanian duo Tempestini-Itu won in the R-GT Category at the 75th Rally Poland, valid for the European Championship, with the Abarth 124 of the Bernini Rally team.
R-GT category win for Modanesi-Mometti in the Rally dell'Adriatico, valid for the Italian championship.
Young David Schumacher is Rookie Champion in the ADAC F4 Championship powered by Abarth in Germany.
The dirt roads enhanced the spectacular and competitive qualities of the Abarth 124 rally last weekend in two races securing two wins in the R-GT category.
In the 75th Rally Poland, valid for the European Championship, Italian (with Romanian licence) Simone Tempestini, in team with the Romanian Sergiu Itu, put up a great show on the famously fast dirt roads of the race, winning the category and ending 16th in the overall ranking. In Italy, in the Rally dell'Adriatico, young Italian Andrea Modanesi, together with Roberto Mometti, repeated the category win scored in the Rally San Marino earlier in the season, demonstrating the outstanding competitiveness and reliability of the Abarth 124 rally even on the trickiest and roughest surfaces.
In both cases, the rear-wheel drive of the Abarth 124 rally contributed to increase the spectacle, exciting the public with long, glides perfectly controlled by the sophisticated electronics that allow the car to perform at absolute level even in critical grip conditions.
In addition to the two rallies, Abarth was also involved in the Tatuus single-seaters of the ADAC F4 Championship powered by Abarth for the last race of the German series on the track in Hockenheim. With the title won by German Lirim Zendeli with one race to go, the focus was on the Rookie ranking reserved for newcomers and won by Ralf Schumacher's son David. So, another Schumacher is making a name of himself at the wheel of the single-seater powered Abarth in the wake of the excellent second place overall in the 2016 championship secured by Mick Schumacher, son of the great champion Michael.
The three races were won by Belgian Weert Charles and champion Zendeli, who scored a double win in second and third heat. His success score is exceptional having won 10 out of 20 races.
FCA Heritage's Abarth cars take part in the Targa Florio
This year's Classic re-enactment of the legendary "Targa Florio", the oldest motorsports race in the world, now at its 102nd edition, will take place from 4 to 7 October with sponsorship from Abarth.
The Targa Florio Classica will involve three splendid cars from the FCA Heritage collection: Abarth 2400 coupé (1964), Fiat 500 (1974) upgraded with the new "Abarth Classiche 595 Conversion Kit" and Autobianchi A112 Abarth 58 HP (1974).
Each car represents one of Abarth's great road car construction categories, in its roles, respectively, as independent builder of high-end GT cars, inventor of upgrade conversion packages for small-displacement Fiat cars, and, after its acquisition by Fiat in 1971, creator of the sporty versions of popular standard production cars.
To celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of the company's founder, Anneliese Abarth and racing and test driver Eris Tondelli, who developed the iconic 595 cars, will be taking part in the event.
The Abarth brand's current range will be on display in piazza Verdi in Palermo, while some Scorpion models will be available for test-drive in the city's famous Mondello district.
Abarth's unbreakable bond with the Targa Florio has brought many successes in both the speed race and rally versions of the event. And the two latest editions of the Targa Florio Rally have brought past thrills back to life, with the powerful Abarth 124 rally taking part.
The "Targa Florio Classica", the regularity competition for historic cars, patronized by ACI Storico, which commemorates the oldest car race in the world, will be held in Sicily from 4 to 7 October. Originally conceived, funded and organised by Palermo magnate Vincenzo Florio for the purpose of establishing a "practical and precise criterion for assessing the travelling car", the race has been run, in various forms, ever since 1906.
Now organised by the Palermo Automobile Club in association with Automobile Club d'Italia, this year the event is also supported, in the role of Main Sponsor, by the Abarth brand, which has a very special bond with this race.
FCA Heritage, the Group department dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the historic legacy of FCA's Italian brands, has selected three fine Abarth cars from its collection to compete in the Targa Florio Classica: the Abarth 2400 coupé (1964), the Autobianchi A112 Abarth 58 HP (1974), and the Fiat 500 (1974) upgraded with the new "Abarth Classiche 595 Conversion Kit". They each represent one of the three great "categories" of the brand's output of road cars: the 2400 with Allemano bodywork is a splendid example of Abarth's ability as an independent constructor of high-end GT cars, while the feisty A112 recalls Abarth's entry into the Fiat Racing Department, after its 1971 acquisition. Last but not least, the quick, agile Fiat 500, upgraded with the new 595 transformation kit produced by FCA Heritage, pays homage to the glorious years when Abarth created its famous tuned-up versions of small-displacement Fiat cars.
What's more, to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Karl Abarth (Vienna, 15 November 1908 - 23 October 1979), the Sicilian event will be honoured by the presence of two figures of symbolic importance for the brand: Anneliese Abarth, who will take part in the starting parade in the 2400 Coupé once owned by her husband, and Eris Tondelli, historic Abarth racing and test driver, who worked on the development of the 595 cars in the Sixties, and will be participating at the wheel of the Fiat 500 upgraded with the replica conversion kit. What's more, the Abarth brand's current range will be on display in piazza Verdi in Palermo, while some Scorpion models will be available for test-drive in the city's famous Mondello district.
Abarth 2400 coupé (1964)
This wonderful coupé, designed by Michelotti, was presented at Geneva in 1959. It was a Gran Turismo version of the Fiat 2100, built at the Allemano carriage works from 1962 to 1964, known first as the 2200 coupé and, in the last year - when it was built on the Fiat 2300 base - as the 2400 coupé. The straight 6 engine of the 2400, generating 140 HP, powered the model to a top speed of 200 km/h. This car belonged to Karl Abarth himself.
Autobianchi A112 Abarth 58 HP (1974)
Launched at the Turin Motor Show in October 1969, the Autobianchi A112 was an attractive luxury runabout, ideal for city use thanks to its compact size. The mechanical layout was highly original: the engine, derived from the 4 cylinder overhead valve unit of the Fiat 850, was mounted transversely at the front, while the car featured front-wheel drive and independent wheel suspension. 1971 saw the debut of the A112 Abarth, the sporty version developed in association with the Scorpion Brand, with boosted displacement, power and torque. Naturally, the performance was also upgraded: the A112 Abarth could do more than 150 km/h and accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in little more than 12 seconds. The car's looks were also modified to give it sportier connotations: inside, the instrumentation was expanded to include rev-counter, ammeter, pressure gauge and oil temperature gauge. The seats were supportive and the steering wheel was in aluminium, with three spokes. Recently purchased by FCA Heritage, the car taking part in the Targa Florio Classica is from the second series.
Fiat 500 (1974) upgraded with the "Abarth Classiche 595 Conversion Kit"
A historic Fiat 500 upgraded with the "Abarth Classiche 595 Conversion Kit" will also be taking part in the Sicilian race. The 500 - a real "test car" specially prepared by FCA Heritage to try out its replica conversion kit - will be test driven by a celebrity expert: racing driver Eris Tondelli, who was involved in these cars' development at Abarth in the Sixties.
The conversion kit is a replica of the one which shaped Abarth's history by establishing it as the brand which invented the upgrading and tuning of mass market cars. In detail, the new kit comprises cylinder liners and pistons with diameter 73.5 mm, set of valve springs, camshaft, cylinder head gasket, oil sump, Weber 28 carburettor, and complete exhaust with the relative mounting brackets. All components are presented in a special wooden box, reproduced with markings inspired by the original and with the Abarth Classiche seal guaranteeing a product designed and built in accordance with the Scorpion Brand's purest racing tradition.
Abarth's unbreakable bond with the Targa Florio
Abarth boasts a splendid tradition of successes in the Targa Florio speed competition, including many class wins, especially with the Abarth 1000 SP cars, ideally suited to the Madonìe roads, which enabled many gentlemen drivers to achieve very impressive standings even in the overall competition. The victories of the Abarth 124 Rally models in the last Seventies editions were also memorable.
Since the Targa Florio was transformed from a speed race to a rally in 1978, Abarth has recorded several overall victories: two with the Abarth 131 Rally, in 1979 with Adartico Vudafieri and in 1980 with Mario Pasetti, and two in 2003 and 2004 with the Fiat Punto Super 1600, driven in both cases by Paolo Andreucci, who also won in 2006 in the Abarth Grande Punto S2000. The same model was first to pass the finish line in 2009 with Luca Rossetti at the wheel. Abarth can also lay claim to the 9 overall first places won by the Lancia Rally, Lancia Delta S4 and Integrale, all cars developed by Abarth engineers. Last but not least, in the two latest editions of the Targa Florio all the thrills of the past have been brought back to life by the racing comeback of the Abarth 124 rally, created to turn in spectacular performances in this speciality.
